Well, contrary to what many believed, we’re still here. The world has not ended yet, nor do I expect it to end at any point today. I say this, not because I know when the world is going to end, but because God’s Word teaches that no man knows when the world is going to end. Jesus said, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone” (Matt. 24:36).
The fact that people have predicted the world would end today is the very reason I don’t beleive the world will end today. Jesus went on to say, “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matt. 24:37-39).
Just as the people in Noah’s day continued on with their daily living, not knowing what was about to happen, people today will continue to be busy living their lives not expecting the Son of Man to return. Then, when we least expect it, the trumpet will sound, the dead shall rise and we will all be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air (I Thess. 5:16-17). It is at this point every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess Jesus Christ as Lord (Phil. 2:9-11) and we (everyone) will all give an account of our lives before the Lord (2 Cor. 5:10).
Since we don’t know when the world is going to end, I mean, it could happen tomorrow, in a week, in a month, in a year or ten years from now, we must always be ready for the end to come. I find it sad and heartbreaking that for many, the only time they think about the end of the world is when someone makes a prediction about the end being near. As a disciple of Jesus, I must do my part to spread the word to the world that yes, the world is going to end someday, we just don’t know when the end is coming so we must always be ready (Matt. 24:44).
If the world ended today would you be ready to meet the Lord and give an account for your life? My hope and prayer is for you to answer yes to this question. Sadly though, many will think they are ready, but will find out they are not when they stand before the Lord in judgment (Matt. 7:21-23).
We’re still here which means we still have time. Why not take the time today? Give your life to Jesus by submitting to His will and being baptized for the forgiveness of your sins (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16).
